KATZ JCC PRO-AM TO HONOR DAVIS FAMILY

The Katz JCC will host its annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament on Monday, Sept. 13 at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, NJ. Players will enjoy a day of golf alongside a professional golfer from the tri- state area on Galloway’s picturesque course overlooking Reeds Bay and the Atlantic City skyline. The Katz JCC is grateful for the support of the JCC Pro-Am major sponsors; Resintech/the Gottlieb Families, Davis Enterprises, Vernon Hill and Republic Bank, and Bill & Amy Green.

This year ’s Roger Davis Memorial Community Service Award will be presented to the Davis Family— Jane Davis, Mitchell Davis and Patricia Davis Lahn. Their commitment, through their family’s foundation, has been unwavering and they have been active supporters of the Katz JCC and the JCC Camps at Medford.

The award is named for the family patriarch, Roger Davis, who was an inspirational leader in Cherry Hill. He provided the vision and financial resources to the JCC in a variety of ways, but most importantly to thousands of camp children by improving the quality of the programs and facilities. The Davis family has carried on Roger’s legacy with continued generous support throughout the years.

Mitchell Davis, CEO of Davis Enterprises, has three sons that are all alumni at the JCC Camps at Medford. His latest project at the Camp was designing and building the new Davis Welcome Center, which has transformed the way that the Camp operates. In addition to consolidating administrative offices and ensuring proper communication among the staff, the Davis Welcome Center houses the Multi- Sensory Room. This space allows for campers with special needs to have a place to use when in need.

Patricia Davis Lahn is a volunteer with the Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service and is a former member of their board. She also participates in several other community-based non-profits, including the National Ability Center, Nuzzles & Company, and Make A Wish Foundation.

Jane Davis has been an active supporter of the JCC Camps at Medford since 1996, when she and her late husband, Roger Davis first hosted a “Friends of Camp” meeting at their home. After visiting the campsite the previous summer, Roger and Jane felt that they wanted to take an active role in helping to fundraise for capital projects at Camp that would benefit each camper. Her first initiative, the Friendship Fence Campaign has continued through today and boasts thousands of contributors over the years.

In addition to 18 holes of golf, the day includes a grab-and-go breakfast, barbecue lunch stations on the course, and an upscale, outdoor cocktail hour at the end of the day. Proceeds from the JCC Pro- Am provide critical financial assistance to hundreds of campers at the JCC Camps at Medford, affording a memorable summer experience for all, including the Open Hearts/Open Doors Special Needs Inclusion Program.
